We have all heard the expression “the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach”. Any food lover out there knows that nothing hits the spot or the heart like a home cooked meal made with love. I was recently planning on cooking dinner for a new love interest, so I went online to do a little research and was a little shocked by some of what I read. I found tons of articles and blogs recommending that I make an elaborate spread with lots of overly (in my opinion) romantic touches. The whole thing seemed a little forced and I couldn’t imagine my date coming to my apartment and enjoying a meal of oysters and caviar by candlelight. Maybe this works if you’re in a serious relationship or into that kind of romance, but it just didn’t seem right to me. I ended up opting for something more casual and decided that (for me at least) there are some more important factors besides romance that go into planning a meal for a man (women too! most girls wouldn’t turn down a free meal ;)).

March Madness is fully underway, and if you don’t even know what March Madness is, you’re probably like a lot of women out there (come on ladies, read up). It seems to be one of the fundamental differences between men and women: guys are content to drink beer and eat chips while watching grown men fight with each other, while women are more than happy to hit the mall during this strange male ritual. Unfortunately, there will probably be a time when even the most sports-aversed girl will have to begrudgingly watch a few quarters of a game. But it doesn’t have to be that way! There are a lot of ways you can tolerate - or even enjoy! - sports.

It’s that time of year again; Springtime. If you were to search images on the internet for “springtime”, you are most certain to receive pictures of flowers, sunlight, blue sky, green grass, etc. But when I look out the window, all I see is piles of snow, decaying leaves and grass in a disgusting shade of brown, and frigid looking puddles of water scattered about. But nevertheless, the calendar says it’s springtime. And I think the biological clock instilled in all living things agree.

The recent union of Mandy Moore and singer, Ryan Adams, has got me wondering, do opposites really attract? Sure, I have heard people use this expression and even seen examples of it in real life but I have never experienced it myself. Most people probably look for a partner who shares mutual interests and values, but by doing that are we missing out on a world of love and opportunity a partnership with a person unlike us would bring? Celebrities have been doing the opposites attract thing for years. Here are a few examples of some of the famous (and infamous) pairings of opposites:

I was about eighteen years old. My parents were out of town, so I decided to throw a “small party”, which turned into anything but. After indulging in a few adult beverages, my then-boyfriend and I headed to my room for some “alone time”. Couldn’t have been more than a few minutes when I heard the dreaded knock on the door. I knew my friends wouldn’t bother, so it had to be only one person…

I think the last time I left off telling you how our night was ending, or starting up depending on how you look at it. Scott and I spent the rest of the night getting to know each other all over again. It seemed like time had back tracked and we found ourselves lost in the age of disco and what we now call classic rock.

Have you ever gotten out of a relationship and wondered where you may have gone wrong? Many times, after a relationship ends, we find ourselves asking how we could have missed the warning signs that our unions weren’t meant to be. Although, it is probably healthiest to move on and accept that what’s done is done, it’s not a bad idea to learn from past mistakes and keep a look out for problematic behaviors and red flags that reflect impending doom in any relationship. Here are a few relationship red flags you should be on the look out for:

We’ve all been hung up on someone before - had butterflies when they look our way, gotten weak in the knees when they held our hand, and blushed at the thought of them thinking of us. The problem arises when the object of our affections does not quite return the same sentiments and, as if a part of some unwritten guy code of conduct, just will not call us back.

While grocery shopping the other day, I got a little teary-eyed while listening to some love song softly playing over the PA system. As I thought about whether or not I’d ever feel love like they were singing about, I began to wonder: just how genuine are the lyrics to these songs? Sure, it’s easy to sing about how wonderful and perfect your relationship is, but sometimes I find it hard to believe that the people singing these songs have ever really experienced these emotions.

Have you ever met Foreplay? I used to know him but I haven’t seen him in quite a long time. There used to be moments of brief passings in the night, but no more. He’s been M.I.A. and I need to talk to him!
