If He Cross-Dresses, Is He Gay?

So you walk in on your guy modeling your new dress. After you’re done yelling about how he stretched out the shoulders and it will never fit you again, what now? Do you dump him and run screaming for the nearest fire station in search of a brawny he-man? I guess the answer to that comes down to: Do you love him enough to put up with a little weirdness? Let’s face it, guys who will wear girl duds are definitely in touch with their feminine side. Gay guys are a blast, right? Maybe a straight guy in girl’s clothing is the perfect man. Personally, I’d stick around long enough to find out, unless I was already looking for an excuse to dump him.
Cross-dressing, in short, means wearing clothing intended for the opposite sex. It’s a fairly common misconception that cross-dressers are gay, but that is usually not the case. Most cross-dressers are heterosexual men, either in a committed relationship with a woman or looking for one.
Why do they do it? The general understanding is that it starts in childhood, with boys borrowing dress-up clothes from their mom or sisters. Many men say that wearing women’s clothing helps relieve stress and make them feel more in control. Another common misconception is that men who cross-dress go all the way, full-frontal drag, but the truth is that many indulge secretly, hiding frills and lace under ordinary work clothing. Maybe they’re just seeking comfort by wearing something that reminds them of mom…wow, does that sounds as creepy to you as it does to me? Let’s throw that theory out.
Are cross-dressers schizophrenic? Some might appear to be because they adopt more feminine mannerisms when dressed as a woman – especially when in full female drag – but these behavioral changes are usually due to affectations and not mental illness. Nine out of ten psychiatrists agree that a man who dresses and acts like a woman some of the time is not schizo. (Ok, I just made that up)
Are cross-dressers into kinky sex? No more than the general public. The caress of silky scanties might be a major turn-on to some, especially if the partner of the cross-dresser is accepting, but there is no kinky sexual behavior associated with these bearded ladies. But isn’t it just a little kinky to wear women’s underwear? I mean, really.
Cross-dressing might seem strange, but to shed a different light on it, aren’t all women today cross-dressers? Pants and shorts, suits, caps, hats, and shoes were once exclusively designed for men. What about boxer shorts? Victoria’s Secret practically owns boxers now. Only century or so ago, the proper Victorian young lady would have been aghast at the very idea of deliberately flashing a bare ankle. Perhaps in the next century, GQ will be touting silk camisoles as an essential style secret for the well-dressed man. Actually, some of the models might already be wearing camis under those killer suits. Not like we’d know.
