Love, Obsession…Craziness…
January 27th, 2009 by adminSometimes love just goes too far. A good recent example is that astronaut arrested in Florida for driving from Texas to kill her obsession’s new girlfriend. Wearing a diaper to cut down on stops. Think about that for a minute. She had to sustain that level of crazy for nearly two days. At some point, wouldn’t you have thought “hey, maybe this is a bad idea”? Or even “Wow, dirty diapers are kind of unpleasant”…evidently, she did not. That, my friends is a finely tuned obsession, with a large soupcon of crazy thrown in for flavor.
It’s not like obsession is a new thing. It’s hard to out-creepy the story of Dr. Carl Van Cosel and the love of his life, Elena Milagro de Hoyos. In 1930s Key West, FL, She was his patient, and he did everything he could to save her, to no avail. She died at the tender age of 22, and Van Cosel commissioned a death mask of her face so he could keep a reminder of his love. He had a mausoleum built for her so that she would not be buried underground where water seepage might deteriorate her features, then he quit his job in order to visit her every night. He had a telephone installed inside the crypt so he could chat with her. Just for the record, Van Cosel asked Elena to marry him before she died. She turned him down cold. Time passed and after a while, people noticed that he had stopped the nightly visits. Seven years passed before Elena’s sister demanded to be taken to the mausoleum to quell some very odd rumors that had begun circulating. Instead, Van Cosel showed her to his bedroom, where she saw what looked like a wax figure dressed in a wedding gown. Unconvinced that it was her sister, she asked for an autopsy. Van Cosel had strung her bones together with piano wire and reconstructed her flesh out of wax. The wig on her head was made from the real hair that fell out as she decayed. They found a tube where her vagina had been. I am not making this up. Oh, and psychiatrists found him to be sane. What’s crazy about keeping a corpse around to boink? The police dropped all charges after they reburied her in a secret location…but years later, when Van Cosel died at age 83, they found him curled up in bed with another wax figure…wearing Elena’s death mask.
I could never love anyone that much. Once they start to stink, they are SO outta here…
OK, you say these are extreme cases and yes they are. We have all been involved in relationships where we are love sick and those feelings are not mutual. Tough situation to be in. I would analyze the relationship and see if it really is a relationship? Chances are it isn’t. Love should be a two way street, there should be give and take and most important of all it must have trust. If you are like me, I like to give it my all and if it doesn’t work out, then I walk away. No regrets is what I always say.
Share your love sick relationships with the rest of us, we could all use some more advice.
