You ever wonder why people cancel their accounts on dating sites?  Well, I don’t!  I get to read this stuff everyday.  On DateHookup, when someone cancels their account, I ask them why they are canceling. Below are the reasons people gave.  This is from one day’s worth of cancelations.  This includes the people that liked the site, hated the site, and everything in-between.

Good stuff huh? As much as I wish everyone who deleted their account did it because they met the man/woman of their dreams, the reality is most people don’t succeed on any given dating site.   There are a lot of reasons why, some specific to the site in question, but mainly because online dating is really really hard.  Why?  Because dating is hard.  How hard is it to meet someone in everyday life?  How hard is it to meet someone who you actually like and is actually compatible with you?  Hard isn’t it?  You fail way more than you succeed.  The same holds true for online dating.  It’s hard.  Too bad dating sites market themselves in such a way that they make people think it’s going to be super easy.  They end up with unrealistic expectations.  The thing I hate the most is when someone deletes their account because they just haven’t had any success yet.  It could take years people!  Don’t give up so easily!  It only takes that one special someone to make it all worth it.  Maybe they are going to join the site tomorrow.  Might as well leave your profile up just in case right?
