So, you have finally met someone you like and you’re planning on going out on what will hopefully be the perfect first date! Lining up a date with a guy or girl you are actually interested in can be a trying affair in and of itself, but then you have to find the perfect outfit to wear on the date. I love clothes, and always want to be dressed right for every occasion. There is nothing worse than wearing the wrong thing at the wrong time or for the wrong activity and feeling completely uncomfortable and out of place. You want to make a good impression on a first date, since chances are your date doesn’t know you very well. Even if you’re not into fashion, in many ways the clothes you wear are an expression of who you are as a person. Here are a few tips on what you should wear on a date, and what you might want to leave behind.

Keep it Clean: Leave the sleaze for the nightclubs, or Halloween. This rule goes for both guys and girls. Wearing a super slutty outfit or any sleazy club wear will probably bring you the wrong kind of attention on your date. If you’re INTO that, I guess it could work in your favor, but if you would like your date to see the real you and take you seriously, I would suggest taking it easy on the cleavage and the glitter. This rule also holds true for makeup. Chances are if a guy has asked you on a date, he likes how you look normally, so there is no need for over the top, caked on make up that is probably hiding your best features. As for the guys, please do not wear one of those t-shirts with the cheesy phrases on them, especially if they’re sexual. I can’t express how much I hate shirts like this and I’m going to go out on a limb here and assume other women do as well.

Dress for Yourself: Many men seem to think confidence and a smile are the best things a women can wear on a date. Make sure you are wearing something YOU like and feel comfortable in. Your date will probably take note of your confidence, appreciate your style, and find you super sexy. This rule also goes for the guys. If you don’t usually dress up, then don’t go overboard to impress us on a date.

Whats the Plan?: If you and your date have a plan for your date, make sure to keep that plan in mind while getting dressed. If the plan is to go out to a swanky restaurant then go for the little black dress and some sexy heels. On the other hand, if you’re going to a sporting event or going bowling, stick to something comfortable and cute. Nothing looks more ridiculous, in my opinion, then a completely overdressed women hobbling on heels through an arena.
