Yiffing with the Furries

Shows like CSI, The Man Show, and ER have depicted them as sexual fetishists, when in reality they are just normal people who obsess over fur. Not luxurious sable coats, but the kind that imitates cartoon characters. Nothing freaky about that. No, sir.
In essence, furries are big fans of anthropomorphic animals, which can be defined as animals with human characteristics. Like Bugs Bunny. Creating animal avatars is extremely common on web based RPGs. Where it gets really weird – and REALLY funny – is when it goes a step further and starts getting yiffy.

Terms you desperately need to know:
Plushie – a subgroup of furries, plushies have a strong – and usually sexual – attraction to stuffed animals. Some plushies have sex with their stuffed animals. I am not making this up.
Yiff – sex, yiffy is horny, and yiffing is the act of having sex.
Fursuit – full head to toe fur costume.
Furverts – people who are sexually attracted to mascots they like (professional furries?). I’m having a hard time commenting on furries who think other furries are perverted.
Skritch – Scratching or grooming each other. It’s a friendly gesture. Like a pat on the back, only, you know, not.
Sexually deviant furries represent only a small segment of the furry population. Most furries don’t indulge in fur piles, where a whole bunch of people in full fursuits roll around together. Fur suits can cost upwards of $800, so no furry in his right mind…wait, never mind. Many of them skritch, but not indiscriminately. That would be weird. The overwhelming majority of people who register at conventions like Anthrocon are men, but many fursuiters who indulge in pseudo sexual behaviors claim to be straight. Perhaps they are simply…confused.

I appreciate this info on the basics of Furries. Someone I know mentioned them, I was curious about a few of the terms they used. Now I know, thanks to your site.

“Plushie” is a common shibboleth in the fandom. A plushie is just another name for a stuffed animal, not the name for someone who has a sexual fetish for stuffed animals (that would be a “plushophile”). This error stems from a misprint in an old Vanity Fair article, from which ER and CSI took as reference.
Similarly, a furpile is not a bunch of people in fursuits rolling around together. That doesn’t happen–those things are far too hot to pile together. People who have sex in suits are rare, and generally this happens in private and not in large groups. A furpile is simply a bunch of furries (not in costume, generally) lounging together in close proximity, like a dozen furries lying on a couch that normally seats six. Furpiles are usually non-sexual.
“Yiffy” has multiple meanings. It can mean horny, or permiscuous, or sexual (as in, yiffy artwork).

Man I have been wanting to be a furry for awhile. (Actually buy a costume and walk around and stuff.) But I have no clue as where to buy a non-Halloween costume, Anyone know a place?

Furrys are amazing. I would love (and to be straight up) to have sex with someone in a furry fox tail and a set of fox ears. Or a kitten costume or something yiffy like that. Anything furry turns me on more then anything originial

I’ve been fond of furrys for along time and a fantasy of mine is to yiff with one or more. I love bears, lions (all cats), rhinos, bulls and many more. Its a fantasy of mine. I’d love to mee up with some furs maybe even a fur rave.

i have been a fur for a year and i love it the people are pawsome and through the fandom i have a girl friend who is not a scanky whore like every girl at school and i will be getting a suit probably by the end of the fall of my character

I just started to understand what it means to be Furry and its amazing i love every thing about it! allthpouh i have never been to any conventions and cant afford a fursuit i would love to go to one and meet others people just like me

I was just random browsing tonight and uncovered this.
I like how this points out that we are normal people. And well in this generation it sure is normal. seeing the number of suiters go from 100 attendees to over 500 in a matter of 2-3 years.
Being a Fur for 7 years, artist for 5, and builder for 3. There are still some things I get embarrassed about. I just have known, I’ve always wanted a suit since I was little.
But suit prices vary now; from 800-3000! The ones I build go for 1500ish. Yiffing in suit is rare and generally contained with boyfriends or girlfriends or simply really close friends.
I tend to figure Furry is an additive to any act; regular or yiffy: Sports, RolePlaying, Entertainment… Its the flavor enhancer!
We’re regular, average people, just having healthy, safe fun; With fur on!

I make and enjoy using adult fursuits or “yiffy fursuits” There is something fun about them. I have thought long and hard about what about the act of having sex in a fursuit is so exciting and I feel it comes down to a few things. You are not exactly yourself, while yes if you are with someone you love or someone you trust there is still a barrier between you that gives you a something of a disconnect, there is a costume before you and that is all your eyes see even though you know the person inside.
Also, if you are nude inside the suit it can be restricting, for people who like to feel trapped there is nothing like the the feeling of being wrapped in fabric from head to toe and someone is playing with you by some unseen opening.
There is also the more animals like role playing aspect, it takes the idea of becoming an animal in the bed 1 step further. You can really go with that desire to growl and roar at your partner, be their rough animal. It also allows for serious power exchange, after all one animal is always trying to dominate the other.
But as a responsible furry I wash and take good care of my fursuits. They are all machine washable aside from the head and feet those need to be carefully hand washed. When you have an adult suit you need to take care of it and being respectful of other furries who might not want to get your sex stank on them is always a plus. I personally don’t understand the phobia, a well washed suit is just as clean as a well washed pair of clothes you did it in.
I wish more people even furries would be more accepting of the fursuit fetish, to be someone who likes to have sex in a fursuit is practically a sin in the furry community. while it is perfectly acceptable to collect drawn, painted, rendered pictures of gay animal/people having sex with their dog cocks if people find out you have sex in your fursuit you will be blacklisted.
